Specialised style AGV's

In many industries the finished product or products that are being transported may be an odd size not suitable for a typical forklift AGV, or conveyor AGV. In these cases NDC tailor make and design AGV's for these applications.

With and in-house team of engineers and support centers in both Sweden and the US we are considered the leader in special purpose vehicles.

One example of such a vehicle is the transportation of seats for a local car manufacturer. These seats are transported to the assembly line at a rate of almost one every 70 seconds. This very demanding industry require a very high level of uptime. The seats are automatically transported to a first drop of station where an operator removes the rear seat. Once this has been completed the AGV moves forward to where one of the front seats are automatically removed and it then moves to the last drop off station where the last front seat is removed.

This 5 vehicle system is today in operation on 2 shifts with a smart opportunity charging system, and with no manual intervention required.

At one of the largest plastic injection molding plants in South Australia , AGV's were installed to maintain order and safety. The facility produces many cartons of plastic parts 24 hours per day 7 days per week with many shifts lights out.

Initially, only one AGV was needed to services the production lines, so vehicle traffic in the production area was not a problem. Today, there are many more production lines, which require three AGV's to handle input and output. The quad steering unit load AGV's were chosen due to their ability to travel in tight spaces and narrow isle ways.

In 1996, the manufacturer undertook the initial investment and today some 11 years later 3 unit load AGV's are still operating in the plant delivering empty and picking up full cartons without the need for human interaction.

Tugger type AGV's are used where a number of trolleys are required to be transported.

The use of these type of vehicles are growing and they are a very cost effective alternative to a traditional manual tugger.
